How To Care For Your Flowers

Flower Care Guide

When accepting a flower bouquet as a gift, you can be sure that the flowers are professionally prepared by the florist: the stems are neatly cut, and extra leaves are removed from the bottom. In order for the flowers in the bouquet / arrangement to stay fresh as long as possible, please read the recommendations concerning care from the florists of the LoraShen online store:
  • 1. If you have received a bouquet and plan to continue its transporting around the city, especially during the cold season, it is not recommended to remove the transport packaging.
  • 2. Keep flowers at temperatures above 39.2°F (or +4°C), otherwise they may freeze.
  • 3. At home, receiving a bouquet as a gift - remove transport packaging.
  • 4. It is not recommended to remove packaging - it will help to preserve the shape of the bouquet.
  • 5. Trim the stems by 1.5-2cm. It is advisable to make a long oblique cut, which will allow the flowers to absorb water better. Use a sharp, clean knife or plant pruner for this job.
  • 6. Carefully remove the lower leaves, so they are not submerged in water.
  • 7. Before pouring water into a vase, wash it with detergent —this way, you will wash away the dust and germs that are trapped inside the vase.
  • 8. Use fresh, cold, tap water. Make sure you give enough water to the flowers. Ideally, the vase should be 3/4 full of water.
  • 9. Do not spray flowers with water. The exception is hydrangeas, they love water.
  • 10. Change water daily. Especially during hot weather or in houses with central heating, because the water is not only absorbed by the plants, but also evaporates.
  • 11. If possible, trim the stems by 1.5-2cm daily.
  • 12. If you use flower food, follow the correct dosage and care recommendations, which are described on the manufacturer's packaging.
  • 13. Maintaining a constant, moderate temperature is important for the flowers. Flowers should be in a bright room, but not in the direct sunlight.
  • 14. Do not put a bouquet next to fruits. They produce ethylene, harmful to flowers.
  • 15. The room should be free of drafts.
  • 16. Never place flowers near radiators, air conditioners, or in direct sunlight.
